Small Business Help Tip - Drop the Call Screening To Increase Sales & Customer Loyalty

Many small business owners have adopted the larger organizational behavior of call screening. Yet, if the goal is to increase business by building loyal customers is this action securing those desired results?

Take a few moments to reflect upon how you feel when you call an organization and go through the call screening process. You ask for the business owner and receive the usual May I ask who is calling? Then you patiently wait and learn several minutes later that the individual is not available.

Now, envision call the same organization and you are immediately either speaking with the intended individual or you are told that the individual is not available. How do you feel?

Much is written about making "nice nice" with the gatekeeper. But what about making "nice nice" with that potential loyal customer on the other end?

Maybe the person is a referral and has a few free minutes to speak with you. By having the call screening process, you are creating an obstacle to your two goals to increase sales and to develop loyal customers.

Just imagine all that time being wasted through the time and cost savings of your call screening process? How much more could you accomplish when you handle that call immediately? Could you be building loyal customers or strong center of influences?

And just what is the purpose of business: to attract and maintain loyal customers. How is that possible when the customer can never reach you because of your call screening process?

The call screening process is designed by very, very busy people who do not have time for others and probably have some time management issues as well. (another subject for another day). So if you want to increase sales and develop loyal customers, dump the call screening process. Make that first connection with your prospect to your potential vendor and even your competitor as positive as possible.
